こんにちは!

 こんにちは! I am very excited to be learning Japanese! I am interested in this language because of Japanese culture, food, being able to communicate with more people, and cute animals in the region! Some of my favorite foods are たこ焼き and すし (takoyaki and sushi). I also really love doing karaoke with my sister! My sister, mother, and I recently visited Japan this past May, and we had so much fun in the karaoke rooms! Yet, one of my favorite aspects of Japan is あざらし!!! They are my favorite animals, and there is a famous seal conservatory in Mombetsu, Hokkaido! Some celebrities there are Yo-chan, Ponsuke, Tsuki, Agu, Katsunori, and more. These あざらし perform many cute tricks and have unique personalities of their own. I adore animals and aspire to pursue a career in caring for them. I hope to one day visit! Please ask me any questions about Tokkari (とっかり) center-- I know some silly fun facts. Attached below are some photos!

千と千尋の神隠し (Spirited Away)

 This weekend I watched Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. I loved this movie. It was interesting, but very special. It was good practice to listen to the movie in Japanese-- and I could even pick out some lines that I understood, but I also found it culturally educational. Many of the characters in Spirited Away are based on yokai-- the topic I wrote about last week. The movie holds heavy themes with Japanese folklore, and although there is a unique plot, the movie offers a beginning to learning about Japanese culture and yokai. I hope in the future to watch more Studio Ghibli and expand my Japanese listening skills.
